Ingredients

  • 2 Tbls. bacon drippings
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Dash pepper
  • 1 small onion, whole
  • 4 to 5 whole cloves
  • 4 cups shredded red cabbage (1/2 medium head
  • 2 cups pared, sliced apples

 

Instructions

  1.  In medium skillet, heat bacon drippings. Blend in brown sugar, vinegar, water, salt, and pepper. 
  2. Stick whole onion with whole cloves. 
  3. Add cabbage, apple, and cloved onion to skillet.
  4. Cover and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 25-30 mins.
