Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. pork breakfast sausage (bulk package)
  • 2 Tbl. chopped yellow onion
  • 3 Tbl. flour
  • 2 cups hot milk
  • salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 pkg. southern-style frozen biscuits (or this recipe for making them from scratch!)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the frozen buscuits ahead of time. Follow the directions on the package. Time it so the biscuits are still warm when the gravy is finished. 
  2. Heat frying pan over medium heat, then add sausage and chopped onion to pan. Saute until sausage is brown and onion is translucent, about 8-10 mins.
  3. Drain off all excess grease but for 2 Tbls. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 mins until light brown in color. 
  4. Add the hot milk and stir until the mixture thickens, about 5 mins. Season with salt & pepper, and a dash of poultry seasoning.
  5. Serve immediately over warm biscuits.
