I got this recipe right off my phone’s Food & Wine Cocktails App and decided to give it a try. I wanted something sweet, but not cloyingly so. I also wanted it to be tart. I thought the orange juice and the Campari would balance out the sweetness of the limoncello, which can be too sweet for me on it’s own. This drink also has a wonderful tropical color, just the thing for lifting spirits in mid-February.
Make sure to get fresh-squeezed OJ – it really does make a difference. And don’t put the OJ in the shaker or it will clog up the strainer. (I learned this the hard way for the first round of drinks.)
Without further adieu…
- Ice
- 2 parts vodka
- 1 part Campari
- 1 part limoncello
- 2 parts chilled & freshly-squeezed orange juice
- 1 lime wheel
In a cocktail shaker, combine the ice, vodka, Campari, and limoncello and shake vigorously. Strain mixture into a martini glass. Add the orange juice and garnish with a slice of lime. Sip and breath easy.
Your welcome.
